This short excerpt by Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell of 2819 Church in Atlanta Georgia is an outward pouring out of what has been my inward cry since my conversion in 2019. We, as the universal Church, need to stand up and stop playing around here in America. We need to make the Lord’s name known, we need to make disciples that cling to, rely on, stand on, trust in and allow themselves to be changed by the Word of God. We need to stop acting like we don’t have access to Ephesians 1 promises and start living out the transformed life God has gifted us in Christ Jesus. He said, if you love Me, you will obey my commandments. Do you love Him? Do I? Yes! Then let’s be obedient to our Lord and live it out!
2 Corinthians 5:17-19, Paul tells us that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation”.
So because of this amazing gift of salvation that we did not earn, we are appointed, gifted His Holy Word and commanded to go and do what?
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:20-21)
We are His ambassadors. His representatives. To do what? To sit in churches and Bible study groups and in our own circles? No! Does that mean those gatherings are not important or necessary, no they are very important and necessary but they should not be where we, as Christians, spend the majority of our time while here on earth. We have a greater calling.
We are called to go out into the world and beg those who are lost, seperated from God, and heading for eternal damnation to be reconciled to God on behalf of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Do we do this so that we can pat ourselves on the back? No, may it never be! We do it because the Lord anointed us with his Holy Spirit, appointed us as His representatives who were chosen before the foundation of the world, set apart to be holy as Christ is holy, adopted, forgiven, made partakers in the promise, set apart as His elect by the Soveriegn will of our Creator, and made His workmanship, so that we might become the righteoussness of God in Christ to those He is drawing to Himself! Come on, do you know this and still not grab hold of these promises and become obedient to our King of kings and Lord of lords? May it never be!
Amen, Hallelujah, Praise the Lord! If you can’t say amen, you better say ouch. Now let us stop playing games and go! (Matthew 28:19)
