Dear Christian, do you know that you are called, chosen, set apart for a work that is beyond anything this world can give you? (1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 1:4) Why is it so hard for us to comprehend the weight of this heavenly gift? Why is it so hard to turn from the world’s distractions and vanities, to receive, in all its majesty, the blessings with which God has given to us and set aside for us? Remember, we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). We are born again to a living hope (1 Peter 1:3-4), one that is not constrained by this world’s darkness, disease and pain, but has overcome it. What then should be our approach to life? Should we approach this life as one who does not know that he or she has been gifted so much (Ephesians 4:7-8, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Peter 4:10)? Should we overlook these gifts, this inheritance that we are told is ours, as sons and daughters of the King (Ephesians 1:5-6)? An inheritance that is imperishable and given to us according to the Lord’s purpose. For He works all things after the counsel of His will (Ephesians 1:11) and will ensure that all He sets forth will come to pass (Isaiah 55:11). So I ask again, should we overlook these things if we are His own? I say no way, look and see what you have been given Christian! Look and search in God’s word for your blessings and cling to them with a renewed hope that you have been called out of darkness into a marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9) for which we are called to walk in until we are called home!
Walk in the light of Christ, flee from this world’s pleasures and use the gifts given to you to do the will of your Father in heaven. For we were called for a purpose, prepared beforehand that we should walk in a manner worthy of His calling (Ephesians 4:1). We who are His, are set apart as God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works. (Ephesians 2:10). Do you know what the gifts are that He has bestowed upon you? Do you think, in order to fulfill His calling for you, that you should know your gifts? These are not charismatic gifts. No, these are practical, spiritual gifts that have recognizable attributes. Gifts given to us that are essential for building up the body of Christ, His bride. We must understand our gifts because only when we are using them are we truly living this new life the way it was intended for us to live. So do not delay, assess your spiritual condition today. Are you living out your purpose that Christ has placed upon you or are you distracted, merely settling for the world’s vanity fair? I encourage you to learn your gifts and then exercise them with the joy of knowing that you are representing the King (2 Corinthians 5:20) for you are a new creation, not of this world, reconciled by God to Himself through Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).
Live your life with your mind on the things above (Colossians 3:2), share the truth that was placed in you by the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) and plead with the lost that they must turn from sin (2 Corinthians 5:20), trust in Christ alone (John 14:6) and be born again (John 3:3-7). For only then will anyone be able to enter into the Kingdom of heaven and have access, here and now, to the blessings for which we have been gifted because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us at calvary, His defeat of death at the sepulcher, and His amazing grace!
In order to help encourage you to take hold of these promises and seek to understand your gifts, we at Herald the Truth Ministry are providing you a free resource. This systematic teaching by Dr. Charles Stanley is a 10-part series titled, “Living in the Power of the Holy Spirit”. In this series Pastor Stanley breaks down who the Holy Spirit is and describes in each lesson the spiritual gifts that are identified in Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12, which God entrusts to believers so we can exercise them according to the grace given to us. By exercising the different gifts unique to each of us, we will be sure to live a life that, first, is able to serve God to the maximum of our potential in such a way that the fruit will be abundant in our lives. Second, we will be blessed in many ways through the joy-filled work that we were called to do, and thirdly, other people are going to be blessed, and the kingdom of God will be stronger as the work of God goes on successfully.
Christian, make the most of what you have been graciously entrusted with by the Lord. Determine what your heavenly gifts are, trust in the promises God has laid out for us in His infallible word and go out and be an Ambassador for Christ. We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). You have been called out of darkness, into a marvelous light, now go!

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I AM the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
