Oh How I Love Your Law

Love for God’s word is not only an essential product of a converted heart, but it is absolutely crucial to living a Spirit-filled Christian life. How can we know the One for whom scripture reveals to us if we do not spend time in it? And how can we say we love Him if we do not long to hear His voice, obey His commands or do His will? The converted heart is one which the Lord has made to be careful to observe His ordinances and one which His Holy Spirit now resides (Ezekiel 36:27).

Can we say with the psalmist, “Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way” (Psalm 119:97-104, ESV)?

Every Christian’s daily goal should be to look into Gods Word with a yearning desire to learn about their Creator, Savior and King so we are prepared to take up the sanctifying pursuit of dying to self, and living for Him. How can we be His disciples if we don’t know His commands? Tell yourself each day you open your eyes, because God has provided us another day by His grace and mercy, “No Bible no breakfast, no read no feed.” We need to feed our soul first and then our body. Our body will pass away in this life, but our soul is eternal so we must feed it with the knowledge of Christ.

“I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.” (Job 23:12)

“Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

Beloved Christian, read Gods word every day, make it part of you, follow what it says and then instruct others to do the same. (2 Timothy 2:2) By Gods amazing grace, He will honor those who honor Him.
